Leaping swiftly after time and the earth from the blood and power mix created by Alumina and Folab, Amnara was immediately excitable and swift to change moods. With a speed and eagerness surpassed only by Quelaton sometime after her, Amnara flew around the earthy mould created by Stavaque and dug through it all. Writhing her body back and forth, she split mountains and separated the continents before shedding her skin for the first time. This first skin, originally blue in colour, fell from onto the earth it erupted into water and spread itself around the groves made by its mistress. In this way Amnara went from a blue serpent to a grey one and remained bound to every body of water in some form.

With her joyful influence the earth of Stavaque erupted with more life then Stavaque could handle and only when Amnara was gently caressed by Alumina’s moonlight did she slow down enough not to drown the soil. Ever after, when the moon gently stroked her scales she would always calm but when the moonlight left her, Amnara’s mind could change. In the early days this caused many problems, not only in Amnara’s stability with her mate, whom she created from the remnant pieces of shed scales that had not turned to water – but in the movements of the water. Her mind meant she was easily distracted by the shiny pearls created in her realm or the different colours of her fish. She often created too many creatures and yet forgot about her own offspring in the process… so random and yet so aggressive when irritated, Amnara was easily jealous as well!

Whenever someone prayed too much to Stavaque or Cassilado she would get so upset she’d make it flood or rain or just dry out in spite. She had to be appeased and one such appeasement included having interesting lovers, no matter how much it upset her mate! On one occasion a male dragon, faithful to his beloved only, refused to mate Amnara or even give her praise as she continued to harass him for attention. When it was obvious she would not get her way she killed the female and let her nasty eel spawn eat away its body. However the male arrived saw the horrible sight and in sheer despair for what had taken placed he killed himself so that he could always be with his mate. Amnara was so upset to see the handsome male’s body streaked in the wriggling forms of her eels that she immediately called Alumina to help her. She begged to have to opportunity to redeem this un-godlike action and Alumina gave her a pair of eggs that Amnara roosted diligently until they hatched into curious looking dragons with strange markings and patterns upon their bodies almost akin to where the eels had been upon the dead ones. These youngsters she raised well and taught the value of faithfulness, which she abided to until the dragons were old enough to realm her swamp-like island, Amnadera. When they entered the lands she led them towards her most devoted followers, a group of barbarian warriors who painted themselves with blue dye to imitate the changes of light upon the water and amongst the shadows – in their own tongue they called themselves barbarians “Celts*” and this name she gave to the youngsters and their offspring who inherited these markings and the same cultures of these Celts.

As much as jealousy can cause upset for some individuals, her wrath is unrelenting as she will drown recklessly at sea if her mood is one of darkness. Constantly aggravated by the likes of the wind and the air that push her down all the time, Amnara despises Quelaton and Astrano. On one occasion the lusty Quelaton dared to try and flirt with her by turning himself into a squid and attempting to keep her in his coils, but Amnara changed her own shape. She became a large sperm whale and chased Quelaton into the depths so that he would experience being pushed down before hounding him back up to the surface. When he broke free of the water and turned back into his true form, she squirted so much water over his feathers that his wings could not keep him in the air and he ended up crashing into the water.

On another occasion though Astrano was more cunning and tried to keep himself disguised for longer, even tricking Amnara into a brief mating. However when she found out what had taken place between them she became so angry that she produced a massive tidal wave and charge straight to his continent of Astrada, ready to sink it! Astrano had so little time to react that he turned the air cold rapidly so that the wave froze around the rim of his country creating a massive wall of ice that falls constantly and means it is not a very pleasant place to live!

To counter her aggression towards others though, Amnara found that her brother Elctirnaba was more then willing to battle her in the sky as she dropped rain over the world and he whipped clouds apart with lightning to find her amongst them. Their rather odd game of chase caused sensational storms that sometimes ruined crops but in other places ended droughts with Amnara’s anger focused solely on avoiding Elctirnaba rather then hurting his people. It is a battle played out often and they two are quite content outside of this duty to goad each other – in this manner Elctirnaba keeps the balance by taking the worst from Amnara instead of everyone else!

Outside of her job and her legends are two other features about Amnara that are not only legendary but very important. The first is a strange practice that was caused when Amnara’s hydra mate learnt that she had hidden away her children (that were not his). When he located them he would force her to eat the child as punishment for her betrayal and Amnara was very upset… but when he was told by Folab that he would be destroyed if he dared control a goddess’ will, that they came to an alternative. Amnara would make all the shows of eating any child suspected as hers, but would then choose to cough it back up without any problem. This was the case on many occasions until the darker side of Amnara would take over and she really WOULD eat a baby.

The second is regarding a strange magical object known as Amnara’s Pearl, created from one of the few tears she ever shed and filled with all sorts of magic. With it a being can never drown, can create anything from a drop of water and can even walk across it or through it without fear. On various occasions she has gifted it to lovers to encourage their obedience and affection towards her and heroes have tried to reclaim it for themselves or for their noble causes. Currently the Pearl of Amnara is with Ekaitz… or at least until his death when it will return to her.

*Yes, Celt is thought to be derived from another expression of barbarian or an uncultured person whose language is not understood – barbarian itself meaning someone who goes ‘blah-blah-blah’ because they do not speak your language.

When she and Elctirnaba have a chance to torment each other they take it! When I used these guys on my old RPG I had my sister play Amnara and it was just hilarious how much she liked to torment him and drive him mad – on purpose! She’s modelled very much on my sister Iona and as much as Amnara can be very vindictive and cruel, she can also be quite sweet too! Just don’t ever take her on as a lover because if she doesn’t get jealous then The Swallower does!

Yeah it’s a little rushed in places I know.
