Damn Owls

Hooo…. Hooo… Hoooo…

"Da, I would like to know as well." You turned from where you had been helping Finland with working on his Great Grey Owls and looked down the ladder. You blinked in surprise at the sight of the strange man at the bottom of the tree with platinum hair, big purple eyes, a curious aura of death around him, and one of the parent birds on his shoulder, hooting down his ear-hole. You almost slipped down the ladder, until Finland hollered up from the nest above you.

"Oh Mr Russia! Hi! We were just checking the nests to see how the vole population is going. There are three chicks, so this family won't be visiting you this summer!" Mr Finland hollered in delight, only to give a little shriek of pain as one of the fluffy chicks clacked his beak at him and then tried to peck his buttons and fingers.

"I see…." The dark violet aura faded and the brightest smile you'd ever seen formed on Russia's face. You breathed a sigh of relief, you had heard enough from Estonia and the other Baltic's about how scary he could be… but why was he visiting Finland? Suddenly you realised the purple eyes were focused upon you and almost fell from the ladder again. "Oh… who's your pretty assistant?"

"Oh… well, I'm Doctor _____; I've been studying the vole and owl situations in America before and Finland invited me to see the difference here." You muttered nervously, blushing at the idea that someone was calling you pretty when you were wearing a hard hat. "I have never been in Europe before, so it was a real treat...."

"Then you should see my animals... I have extensive land and lot of creatures. I even have tigers... America does not have tigers." Russia smiled with a cheeky glint in his eyes, and you were surprised. You blushed again as he lifted a hand up toward you and beckoned you to come down to him. "You look like you could use some tea. Would you like to come over to my research hut on the other side of this hill and have some?"

"Okay..." You muttered nervously, fluttering your eyelashes at him as you gave a little giggle. You felt a little stupid for it, but it seemed to make Russia smile even more and you started down the ladder. At the bottom you unhooked your hard-hat and hooked it to the edge of the ladder. You then took Russia's gloved hand and smiled widely when you realised how warm it was. You'd forgotten how chilly it was, and the idea of sitting somewhere warm with this seemingly nice person would be quite delightful. Any thoughts of being afraid of Russia flew away as he hooked his arm for you and began to lead you away.

As you paced on you failed to hear the nervous cry for help from Finland as the owls returned to their nest. One of them knocked the ladder over and Finland found himself trapped... he would be waiting for a while for you to come back....

"Uh... hello? _____? Russia? Are any of you there? I need some help... the owls are trying to feel lemmings into my ears..."

You followed Russia to a small log cabin and when you stepped inside you were surprised. It did not have the computers, maps, or scattered piles of paper your own cabin had and it certainly did not look like a research place. Instead it looked more like a cosy get away cottage and you were beckoned down onto a large comfortable rug in front of a very warm fire. It was completely different to what you'd expected, but Russia brought you tea, just as he said he would.

"So, ____, how did you manage to get into owls?" Russia questioned with a soft smile upon his face as he offered you the black tea. You smiled back nervously, surprised by his genuine interest. He seemed so sweet and delightful that you could hardly imagine that this was the supposedly scary and non-feeling person America had told you about.

"Well I always thought they looked so funny but did such interesting things." You muttered in a nonchalant tone. It was not that you weren't interested in them it was just that you were a little unsure about his sudden interest in you. Perhaps he wanted to make a friend... "How did you get interested in them?"

"The owls kidnapped my sister..." Russia stated with a smile, but there was a twist to it and a demonic aura that you felt your skin crawl in terror. What a horrible thing to have happen!

"Oh my God! I'm so sorry!" You blabbered suddenly in upset, but to your own horror he began to laugh about it.

"Nyet, I'm not." Russia grinned. But then he shuffled in his sitting position to hold your hands. The warmth shot through your body faster then that of the tea and you felt strangely calm. He leant close to your ___ hair, his lips inches from your ear, and as he spoke your skin rippled in delight and you almost swooned.  "I like how most mate for life."

"Are you a romantic?" You half gasped in surprise at how easily you felt drawn in by him. There was nothing in your mind telling you not to be happy or to feel like something was up. You were just hypnotised by his sudden gentility and the sensations of his warm breath near your skin. He gently took your chin in his hands and pulled your face to his so that your noses touched.

"Nyet, normally I don't care... But looking into your beautiful ____ eyes, I could not help but want to impress you." You looked at him sceptically, was he being honest. You could have swooned then and there, but you were unsure. Though your body screamed as you looked at his soft pale lips and licked at your own, you felt anxious. Then, in that rich accent of his, he spoke directly with his lips brushing air over your own. "Da, you don't have to be afraid of me."

Your lips pressed together, your bodies tingling in delight. Within a sweet hot flush you were embracing with hands gripping and eyes closed. Your cheeks swam, turning bright pink with the passion and embarrassment of such a sudden notion. You stretched your arms to stroke his neck through his shirt and try to reach his back. He hooked his stronger arms around your back and pulled you into a tight embrace. There was silence save the gentle wheezing of air past your locked lips and the crackling of the fire.

Suddenly the door was bashed open and an owl flew in. The big grey creature landed on your lap, looked up at you with dumb eyes, and then gave a shrieking noise that made you groan. Just as you managed to remove it and send back out of the door, you found Russia missing. You looked around the whole of the small cabin but he was gone. Your heart sank, but swiftly you turned toward the owl that hooted in the tree, watching you.

"DAMN OWLS!"

A little fluffy, I hope it was anyway, Christmas request for Skelebunny! I hope it was to your liking as I really enjoyed writing it and giggling over the idea of the owls kidnapping Belarus. Though from the actions of that last owl, it’s possible they now work for her!
Cute Story… Got the idea for the Owls and the studies because I was watching the Living Plane talking about them and suddenly this came to my head. Works too because Skelebunny’s icon is a snowy owl looking crazy! So I hope she likes this cute one-shot.
