You remained upon your bed, staring bleakly into the ceiling of your bedroom as if there was nothing in the world worth waking up for. You could not seem to find the energy today, everything had just lost meaning and you knew why it was…. Or at least there was something that caused it but you never really understood why?

Hearing the sound of footsteps outside your dormitory, you knew it was probably your best friend Romano wandering around. He was probably getting angry because you had promised to join him and the others for breakfast, but all you wanted to do right then was sleep the day away.

What was there that you could do after-all? You’d been doing okay in your college stuff but at the same time you didn’t feel like you could do any better then average…. You were lost in the thought of where to go next, what to do about next year or when you finished the course? What was the point when everyone was complaining about the hassles beyond the college life?

The door was knocked on heavily and you heard Romano’s gruff voice behind the door. You ignored him though, rolling onto your side and making no noise as you pulled the covers back over your head. The door knocked again, you still said nothing and did not but felt a strange tear dribble down your cheek. The silence made something fearful trigger within your companion. Suddenly you heard him thumping at the door and squealing like a little girl. This just irritated you and you snapped over your shoulder.

“It’s not locked you idiot!” You thumped the mattress and growled to yourself as you tried to curl up again. Why did he always have to bother you? Why did he always turn up to distract you from feeling so glum? It was not that he made it worse of course… but today you just didn’t feel you could handle anyone.

“You’re calling me an idiot again… when you know it’s my little brother who’s the idiot! Now get up and come to breakfast… I’m starving and you’re the only one who’s able to get extra food because of your big eyelash thing…” Romano grunted. He stomped into the room and closed the door, strolling over to your side and sitting on the edge of the bed. It did not matter really about the food; Romano was not the one who benefited it was you who got something to share with him. But your continued silence worried him and he placed a rather trembling hand to your shoulder. “_____, what’s wrong Bella?”

“I… I just don’t feel like anything in life is worth it anymore… I don’t care…” You muttered gently, trying to avoid the curious warmth from his hand. Romano chuckled gently and took your shoulder, pulling you over to face him. You gave a grunt and looked at him with a scowl, only to blush anxiously at his face. Upon Romano’s face was the sweetest and yet most terrified expression you’d ever seen him wear. It was the kind of thing when he’d slaved over a good meal and someone had dared to add extra salt or something to it… You blinked in surprise as he gently pressed his face against yours and kissed you softly.

“There’s always something in life that’s worth it….” As your eyes widened and your mouth opened in surprise, Romano pressed his lips against yours and for a moment you shared a very sweet and tender kiss. But as soon as he broke away and stopped staring at you for a moment, he suddenly smacked your butt and looked grouchy. “Now that’s just between us… we’d better go to breakfast before any of those others idiots crash into your room…”
